Soberkind for iPhone

Privacy policy

Your diary stays on your device. Here is how the app, optional integrations and support handle information.

App document updated October 2, 2026. Website prepared September 9, 2026.

Who is responsible

Soberkind is provided by Ivan Kupriienko, an individual developer based in Canada. For support or privacy questions, email brokenarrovv@proton.me. This policy describes Soberkind for iPhone, including its widget and optional Apple Health connection.

What stays on your device

Your diary dates, drink amounts, unknown-amount and blackout markers, notes, optional name, onboarding answers and preferences are stored locally. They are used to display your calendar, statistics, rewards, check-in plan and local league score. No account is required. This version has no developer-operated diary server or automatic cloud sync, and we cannot remotely view your diary. Leagues compare your recorded-day count with six computer-generated opponents on this device. Opponent profiles and progress are generated locally, are not saved in your diary, and do not upload your journal, notes or Health data to a league server.

Optional Apple sign-in

If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple authenticates you in its system window. Soberkind stores your app-specific Apple user identifier in the protected Keychain on this device and can use your shared first name to prefill your profile. We do not store Apple identity tokens or authorization codes, send this identifier to RevenueCat, or create a developer-operated account. Apple sign-in does not upload, restore or sync your journal and does not unlock Plus. Disconnect it in Profile or by deleting all local data. You can also revoke access in your Apple Account settings.

Storage and retention

The diary uses iOS file protection and its folder is excluded from automatic iCloud device backup. Keep a JSON export if you want to restore it later. Local records remain until you edit or delete them, reset the journal, or remove the app. Device loss or app removal can make local records unrecoverable. No storage method is guaranteed against every risk; use a device passcode.

Widgets and reminders

The app shares a limited current-month snapshot with its own widget on your device: dates, day categories and week-start preference. It excludes notes, your name and exact drink amounts. A widget can reveal day categories to someone who sees your screen. Optional reminders are scheduled locally through iOS; you control notification permission and lock-screen previews in iPhone settings. Open Soberkind at least once every 60 days to refresh the local reminder schedule.

Apple Health

Only if you enable it and grant permission, Soberkind writes known standard-drink totals to Apple Health. It does not read your Health records or send notes to Health. Exporting earlier entries needs a separate confirmation. Disconnecting stops future updates; existing Health records remain. Resetting the diary also leaves existing Health records in place. Review or delete them in the Health app. Apple governs Health storage and any Health syncing you enable.

Exports and sharing

You choose whether and where to share. JSON backups and CSV spreadsheets can include sensitive diary entries and notes. Recap images contain the information visible in their preview and exclude notes. Once you export, the destination app or service handles that copy under its own policy. Temporary sharing copies on this device are cleared after sharing or cancellation and on the next launch. Deleting the local diary does not delete copies you saved to other apps or services.

Purchases and third parties

Apple processes payments and purchase restoration. Soberkind uses verified StoreKit transaction information to enable Plus and RevenueCat to manage its purchase catalog and subscription records. RevenueCat processes purchase history, product identifiers, purchase and expiry dates, transaction status, an anonymous app user identifier, an Apple vendor device identifier (IDFV), and technical information such as app, device and operating-system versions. Purchase and technical information support billing operations, fraud prevention and subscription analytics. We do not send your diary, notes, name, onboarding answers or Health data to RevenueCat, and we do not receive your card details. This app contains no advertising, requests no tracking permission, and does not sell your personal information or use diary or Health information for advertising. Apple and RevenueCat also describe their processing in their own privacy policies.

When you contact support

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond, resolve the issue and handle related follow-up. Email is handled by our email provider, Proton, and your provider; their processing may take place outside Canada. Please avoid sending diary exports unless needed. We retain correspondence only as needed for support, dispute resolution or legal obligations; you may request deletion, subject to those obligations. We may disclose information if legally required, but cannot disclose diary records we do not hold.

Your choices and rights

You can view, correct and export your diary in the app, disable optional permissions, or use Profile → Delete all local data. For information you have sent us, contact brokenarrovv@proton.me to request access, correction or deletion, or to raise a privacy concern. We may need to verify the request using proportionate information. You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your applicable privacy authority. Removing the app or data does not cancel a subscription.

Age and changes

Soberkind is intended for adults aged 18 and over, and is not directed to children. If a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can address it. We will update this policy when our practices change and show the revised date. Where required, we will request consent before a new use of personal information.
