One small check-in

Tap a date or Log today. Choose Alcohol-free for zero, enter a known total, or use Unknown amount if you drank but do not know how much. Notes and the blackout marker are optional. You can edit or delete past entries. Future days cannot be logged.

Counting drinks

Soberkind uses US standard drinks: about 14 grams of pure alcohol. Examples are 12 fl oz / 355 mL of 5% beer, 5 fl oz / 148 mL of 12% wine, or 1.5 fl oz / 44 mL of 40% spirits. Larger or stronger servings may count as more than one. Decimal totals are supported. Countries use different units; these are counting examples, not safe-drinking limits.

Read your calendar

Green means an explicitly alcohol-free day. Yellow, orange and coral show different known amounts. Unknown amounts have their own marker. A blank day means no record; it never means alcohol-free. Blackout is a separate marker you choose, not a conclusion based on the amount.

Progress and collections

Progress summarises the entries you have actually recorded. Missing and unknown amounts are kept distinct from zero. Your collection celebrates check-ins and completed alcohol-free days. Today does not count as a completed alcohol-free day for streaks or rewards; a full-month reward requires a fully logged, finished month.

Weekly reviews

Reviews compare the last 7 completed local days with the previous 7. Today is excluded. Check-in goals count recorded days, including drinking days. Missing days and unknown amounts stay visible. A drink-total change is shown only when both weeks have 7 known amounts. Older reviews use your current check-in goal. No medical outcome is predicted.

How the league works

League opponents are computer-generated characters created for motivation. Their names, avatars, profiles and progress do not represent real people or verified activity. A new lineup of six opponents appears each local day. Rankings compare your check-ins with these generated characters over the latest 7 local days, including today. Each recorded day counts as one point, regardless of the amount recorded; editing the same day does not add another point. The league runs on your device and does not upload your journal to a league server.

Free and Plus

Your calendar, logging and edits, month/year navigation, monthly progress, rewards and Leagues remain free. Plus adds weekly reviews with period comparisons, the year overview and extra recap themes. A free weekly preview appears after your history spans 7 completed days with at least 3 check-ins in the latest week. To continue free, tap the top-right X on the subscription offer to see Lifetime, then tap the X on Lifetime to enter your diary. See the purchase screen for the current features, total price and billing period.

Keep a copy

In Profile, export a JSON backup for restoring your journal or a CSV for spreadsheets. Backups include sensitive entries and notes. On import, you can keep your existing matching days or replace them with the backup. Recap previews show what will be shared; notes are excluded.

Health, reminders and purchases

Apple Health and reminders are optional. iPhone app settings opens Apple’s settings for this app, where you can manage system permissions. In Profile → Subscription & purchases, Restore purchases checks purchases made with your Apple Account; it does not restore diary data. Manage subscription opens Apple’s subscription controls, also available in Apple Account → Subscriptions. Active Plus members can open the Soberkind Plus card in Profile to find their tools. Open Soberkind at least once every 60 days to refresh the local reminder schedule. Add Soberkind from the iPhone widget gallery. The widget hides diary details by default; Show diary details in its configuration enables the current-month view.

When you need support

Soberkind is a journal, not medical care, addiction treatment or an emergency service. It does not promise a health outcome. For concerns about alcohol use or withdrawal, speak with a qualified healthcare professional; for an emergency, contact local emergency services.

Backup and recovery

Save a JSON backup before deleting the app or changing phones. Backups and the combined journal have a 20 MB limit; an oversized import leaves the saved journal unchanged. If the journal cannot open, use Retry opening journal after unlocking your iPhone, save its original file, or restore a valid backup. Recovery retains a separate original copy on this device until you delete all local data. Restoring an unavailable journal resets preferences and optional sharing permissions.
